ABOUT THE COMPANY

We are an Omaha-based team that specializes in developing, building and operating a wide variety of commercial real estate projects and desirable residential developments.  We were originally established through the natural evolution of our founders’ successful high-end residential home building company, Malibu Homes, which evolved into the planning and development of large-scale residential communities.  By recognizing the opportunities for community-driven commercial growth in and around Omaha, we have been able to deliver high-quality projects that fill a need and consistently provide strong returns for our clients and joint venture partners.

We utilize our diverse professional backgrounds and many years of practical experience to provide clients with a full-service approach to every project, no matter the size.  Given our collective skills, we have expertise in the construction, engineering, entitlement, design, market analysis, legal, capital markets and finance fields.  Our experience also gives us the ability to foresee and predict market trends, and to react quickly to new opportunities.  In addition, we pride ourselves on having developed strong and long-standing relationships with the top local and regional suppliers, trades, lenders, brokers and other real estate industry professionals.  We are able to trust and rely on these relationships to ensure that projects are completed in a timely, cost-effective and top-quality manner. 

Through our planning and acquisition services, construction management services and asset management services, we are able to provide our clients and partners with the full spectrum of services from site identification all the way through occupancy and property operation.  Throughout the development process we work to help identify the right location, advise on concept and strategy, and navigate complex local use, zoning and design requirements to get the project ready to be built.  We are then able to manage and control all stages of construction to deliver top-quality projects within budget and on schedule.

Willie Douglas

Willie Douglas is a Founder and Partner in SRE Companies. Willie brings over 20 years of combined experience in high-end residential home building, commercial construction, land development, project management and real estate brokerage.  Through these experiences, Willie has developed an expertise in all aspects of the real estate development process including site selection, building design and development, financial analysis, project management and construction management.  Willie is also a trusted source of advice for SRE’s clients, as well as other developers, business owners and property owners. 

Willie’s broad background and his high-level understanding of local and national real estate market trends have allowed him to become a visionary in the real estate development industry.  As part of the SRE team, Willie continually seeks quality investment opportunities, whether they may arise within the real estate industry or within other business channels.    

Willie earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2001.  Throughout the course of his career, Willie has bought and sold over $150 million of real estate throughout Arizona and Nebraska, continually placing him in the top 10% of producers. 

While real estate has always been a passion in Willie’s life, Willie also enjoys spending time with his wife Jill and their three daughters Paisley, Presley, and Parkley.  When not working, Willie and his family enjoy a variety of sporting events, boating and spending time with friends. 

Mike Shotkoski

Mike Shotkoski is a Founder and Partner in SRE Companies.  Mike brings over 27 years of combined experience in residential and commercial construction, land development, and property management.  His experience through these projects has helped to develop his knowledge of real estate development, building designs, project management, investment opportunities, and construction management. 

Mike holds his Commercial Building License with the city of Omaha and is a member of Build Omaha Organization.  Mike has built over 300 Residential homes in Eastern Nebraska, is partners in 300,000+ sqft of leased commercial space, and has assisted in the development of several residential subdivisions and commercial use properties.

Mike earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Wayne State College in 1999.  While completing his degree, Mike worked construction and completed an 18-month banking internship.  Combining his banking and construction experience helped Mike to land a management role with an Omaha financial institution.  Within that role, Mike was able to get his first experience of financing a construction project.  From that point on, Mike had a strong interest in real estate opportunities.  Throughout his career, Mike has combined his financial and building experience to create new opportunities in residential and commercial real estate.

Mike is married with two children.  Mike and his wife enjoy watching their kids compete in various sporting events, traveling as a family, and getting together with family and friends. 

Erik Booth

Erik Booth is a Partner in SRE Companies.  After a nearly 20-year legal career, Erik’s primary responsibilities include overseeing the legal aspects of SRE’s various development and investment projects, including drafting and reviewing a variety of agreements, contracts, leases and financing documents.  Erik also assists with the coordination of entitlements, easements and the ongoing compliance of SRE’s projects with local and state regulations.  In addition, Erik helps structure and manage the relationships between and among SRE, its subsidiaries and its service providers. 

Before joining SRE, Erik served as a Director at a boutique Omaha law firm, where for 13 years his practice focused primarily on the areas of real estate and securities law.  More specifically, Erik represented broker-dealer and registered investment advisor clients across the country in connection with analyzing the structure and underlying investment plans of real estate-related private placements and non-traded publicly registered real estate programs.  Erik also assisted local clients with business formation and structuring services, and represented commercial lending institutions in real estate financing transactions.

Erik received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa School of Law in 2000 and his bachelor’s degree from Truman State University in 1997.  Erik is a member of the Nebraska Bar Association and the Iowa Bar Association.  Erik is married with three daughters, and enjoys traveling with his family, rooting for the girls in their sporting events and cheering for the Creighton Volleyball team.

Ryan Bertucci is a Partner in SRE Companies.  He brings over 25 years of combined experience in Banking, Capital Markets, Real Estate Development, Real Estate Acquisition/Disposition, Finance, Insurance and Private Client consultancy to SRE.  Through these experiences, he has developed an expertise in all aspects of the real estate development process including site selection, building design, development, financial analysis, project management and construction management.  

Ryan’s primary responsibilities include overseeing the financial aspects of SRE’s various development and investment projects, including initial project underwriting, project structure, capital allocation, finance & lease negotiations.  Ryan also assists with identification of SRE new development opportunities, the identification of existing property asset acquisitions and other quality investment opportunities.  In addition, Ryan assists with structure and management of relationships between and among SRE, its subsidiaries, its investors and its service providers. 

Ryan earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska – Kearney in 1996 with an emphasis in both Finance and Marketing.  Throughout the course of his career, Ryan has successfully participated in private and public capital raises in excess of $500M+, oversaw the acquisition or development of more than $650m+ of Commercial Real Estate, participated in the finance of over $1B of Corporate and Real Estate debt and advised on mergers/acquisitions of Corporate entities in excess of $125M in Enterprise Value. 

While building successful teams and businesses have always been a passion in his life, Ryan also enjoys spending time with his wife, Becky and their three sons: Grant, Gage and Tate.  When not working, he and his family enjoy a variety of sports, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
